Langkawi beach paradise

Finally at our paradise chillax location, beatiful Langkawi. Also to our pleasant surprise, this island is a tax free zone, meaning cheap wine and beer... Yahoo!

Kippis on our chalet terrace.

Ocean peaks from behind the palm trees...

At Chenang beach.

The sea was like in a hot tub.

Buggery bug... its raining.

Its not all sunshine here either. Afternoon storms cool the temperatures.

Evening storm brewing.

Suvi sunset paraglider.......not!

Just about to order pre dinner drinks at the beach bar...

...what a view.

Night 'crawley'....not nice when flying at you. This one measured more than 5cm in length.

Nice helmet!

On top of the waterfall at Seven Wells.

Suvi cooling in one of the 'wells'.

Another tropical waterfall in the lush interior...

...had to cross this dodgy rope bridge to get there though.

Suvi at the Oriental Village summoning courage to ride the cable car.

...don't look down!

Spectacular views above Langkawi.

Jungle canopy walk.

David contemplating base jumping.

At the top, 710m above sea level overlooking jungle bridge.

Penang Malaysia

After K.L. we headed to Penang where we planned to have a "chill out" week... first we took a sleeper train from K.L., then a ferry from Butterworth and finally a local bus to the northern beach resorts through an enourmous and very shabby looking city called Georgetown... around 8 am we had a over priced breakfast at the "beach front" where there was no beach to be seen whilst watching a stray dog do its business on a smelly dirty street in front of us... can't blame it for making that statement... we decided to leave and go to Langkawi, which ment another bus, ferry, bus, taxi, ferry and taxi rides before finally reaching our beach paradise.

On a ferry between Butterworth and Georgetown (in Penang).

Paradise island transit... not!

State of the art air con buses... not!

Georgetown street scene with lush beutiful terrace on the left... not!

Riding the footplate.

We are outta here!

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Greetings from SE Asia. We cant believe that 2 months in Oz has already passed and a new chapter in our travels in Asia is beginning :-) cheezarama!
Gateway to Asia for us has been hot, humid & stinky Kuala Lumpur. K.L is real mixture of gleaming new skyscrapers contrasted with old, decaying & mouldy suburbs - a new and even more disgusting smell lurked around every corner.

Coral atols from our window, somewhere over the Java Sea.

Torrential rain greets us as we transfer from the airport to K.L Sentral.

After much confusion, Suvi finally chooses her first Malay breakfast. Menu....no clue?

Visiting a new city without checking out the Aquarium just wouldn't be right....Suvi making friends with sharks.

Fish Therapy!

There was no way Suvi could put her feet in the therapy pool with her ticklish feet.....I took one for team however :-) ....nice feeling!

Before!

After!

Street scene, China Town, lost???

Our hotel is in there somewhere!

New sunglasses, new haircut, new man :-)

How did Stone Henge get here.....mock up at K.L planetarium.

Orchid Gardens....I insisted on addding this pic even though Suvi rekons she looks 'chubby'. K.L Tower and Petronas Towers loom in the background.

Suvi cooling off at the Orchid Gardens!

Macro wonders.

Me sweating behind the Orchids.

Friendly looking orchid.

No she's not having a wee.....just fish feeding at the Butterfly Park.

My turn!

The leaf butterfly.....very friendly!

This ones for you Terry.....you'll see why soon!

More macro! Not bad for a compact camera.

View of Petronas Towers from lofty K.L Tower, 290m above the street.

Enduring the Petronas P.R machine.....3D glasses provided!

40 floors up - The Skybridge which links the twin towers of Petronas. Suvi being brave once again.

'Artsy'.

Towers at night.

More tower shots.

Mum's.....were eating OK. This lunch selection cost 10RM or £2 :-)

This ones for you Dad! On our way to Butterworth by sleeper train.

"Tickets please!"... Suvi looking worried as you're not supposed to take pictures of 'officials'.

Suvi has to do something about my smelly feet before I stunk out the carriage...BTW, I returned the favour :-)
