Pampas, Bolivia

Soon after arriving to a small village of "Rurre", we headed out to the wilderness again. This time 3 days at "pampas", the lowlands of central Bolivia. We spent 3 days going up and down rivers and wading through swamps, spotting the most amazing creatures up close.

Ready to go.

This was the fist sight we saw as soon as we stepped in to the boat... didn´t feel like dangling feet or hands outside the boat.

On our mission to find an anaconda...

... and we did. Couldn´t resist touching the rather mellow fellow...

... David´s turn to show snake handling skills.

Yea, I also saw the movie and was expecting all Anakondas to be 10 times bigger :)

The Pampas was a heaven for big birds. Here the black eagle.

Näytä mulle missä sul on rusketusraidat, piirrä ne kartalle!
(from finnish song and goes something like this "show me where you have tan lines, draw them on a map")

Tour is no tour without fishing of course. This time target was piranas (mind the fingers).

Was good.. tasted a bit like perch (ahven).

Evening entertainment... torture Eddie with Monopoly.

Qurious little creatures.

Spot the pink river dolphin, which clearly didn´t like cameras.

These cute pig size guineapigs were called copybaras.

By looking at this you wouldn´t believe that they actually don´t go for people and it would have been safe to swim in the river (same goes for piranas). We passed on the swimming just in case :)

Tarantula... I was happy to notice that they like to stay in their holes... and not creaping into my bed for example :)
Evening cruise... feels like someone is staring at me...

... and I wasn´t wrong.

This is Pedro posing for the camera.

And here is the result.

David was even braver and gave him a little pet... a very quick one :)

Our "pampas crew" group shot.

Time to return to La Paz, this time by plane. Notice the dirt track runway... I was not too happy about this take off, but it beats 20 hours on a bus.
