....And so to the North Island, NZ. The Windy City, art deco architecture, powerfull waterfalls, huge lakes, bubbling mud pools and the Bay of Islands awaited us over the next 1800km.
Climbing Victoria Peak, Wellington - exhausted, this is the moment when mum and dad reached the summit to find a car park and now realised that they could have driven up instead :-)
Wellington once prepared itself for attack - here is one of the remaining canon left behind from that time modelled by myself.

This place was amazing - Waimungo thermal area complete with steaming lake....

On the jetty again....this lake was created in the late 1800's after a volcanic eruption. Luckily the volcano remained dormant for our visit.
