Christmas in Ecuador

18 hours north by bus once again, a mid-night border crossing and the negotiation of the bus station at Ecuador´s second largest city, Guayaquil, we found our selves on the Libertad peninsular at Montanita. A great place for Xmas!!
Our tranquil accommodation only one block back from the beach had hammocks, table tennis, pool table, 5 kittens and great communal area - everything you could need for Xmas.
We had originally planned to stay only for a couple of days, however with Christmas looming and with the arrival of other friends, a couple of days became 9.
We never made it the rest of Ecuador - never mind - there is always next time.

Beach side Montanita - perfect conditions for cows :-(
Have just been told to change this comment :-)
Therefore - Beachside Montanita - perfect conditions for Suvi :-)

Our Xmas pets.

Cocktail alley, behind the bar, for the start of a very drunken night with friends. 2USdollars per cocktail - bargain!

Left to right - Me, Suvi, Chani, Eddie, George, Tao - I think these were white russians :-)

Our typical view - Eddie´s drinks round - what on earth is this blue stuff?

Suvi becoming Rasta! Montanita was that kind of place.

Beach cricket with home made stumps and bat :-)

The best place for Santa!

More beach games at sunset.

This guy kept popping by every day or so to say hello.
Christmas Eve - putting up the decorations in 30 deg heat - weird.

Doing the Xmas food shopping at Libertad fish market one hour away from Montanita. We hired a car and driver to get there.

Our cut of Tuna - fellow on the right.....hmm!

Our piles of food shopping - we had just about enough to last us.

Joulukinkku!

A fine turkey!

Finnish vegetables in Ecuador.

Well done George for peeling all the prawns.

Pyromaniac!

Men doing manly things!

Santa arrived!

Us around our ´makeshift´ Xmas tree.
Left to right - John, Emma, Me, Eddie, George, Johan, Gerline, Chani, & Tao ( spellings correct I hope ;-)

At John´s mojito bar, Xmas night!
