Chiang Khong on the Thai border with Laos

We spent a very pleasant two nights in this quiet 'backwater'. Chiang Khong is a popular border crossing from Thai into Laos. Most people seem to pass through, so we decided to stay. It was our favourite place, so far, in Thailand.

Our 'Tree house' style accomodation over looking the Mekong River.

Suvi making friends with the local cats on our balcony.

Our view of the Mekong and Huay Xai, Laos.

Breakfast on the guest house terrace.

Passing storm during a meal, a lightning bolt illuminated the night sky.

Backpacks on once again for the short trip across the Mekong and border crossing into Laos.

It was really hot that day!
